Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for pidgin.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 6 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2010:0890 advisory.

 - Pidgin (libpurple): Multiple DoS (crash) flaws by processing of unsanitized Base64 decoder values (CVE-2010-3711)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL pidgin package based on the guidance in RHSA-2010:0890.
