Fedora Core 4 : pam-0.79-9.6 (2005-1031)

high Nessus Plugin ID 20099

Synopsis

The remote Fedora Core host is missing a security update.

Description

This update fixes a security bug in unix_chkpwd allowing brute-force attacks against passwords in /etc/shadow by a regular user when SELinux is enabled.

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Fedora security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.

Solution

Update the affected pam, pam-debuginfo and / or pam-devel packages.
