Ubuntu Security Notice (C) 2017 Canonical, Inc. / NASL script (C) 2017 Tenable Network Security, Inc.
The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security-related patch.
It was discovered that the GNU C library did not properly handle
memory when processing environment variables for setuid programs. A
local attacker could use this in combination with another
vulnerability to gain administrative privileges.
Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding
description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable
has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible
without introducing additional issues.
Update the affected libc6 package.
