Vital Log Information from Top Layer’s Award-Winning IPS 5500 Now Managed in Synch with Data From Other Essential Security Devices through Tenable’s Log Correlation Engine to Provide Greater Security Event Management

Top Layer, a global leader for high performance intrusion prevention solutions, and Tenable Network Security, the leader in unified security monitoring, today announced a joint partnership to provide customers with cross-network security awareness by correlating security event data between Top Layer’s IPS 5500 intrusion prevention solutions and additional security devices across an organization as a part of a defense-in-depth strategy. The available integration is the synching of the vital network intrusion data log from Top Layer’s IPS 5500 with the logs of fundamental security data from servers, firewalls, applications and more through Tenable’s Log Correlation Engine.

“Augmenting the capabilities of Top Layer’s IPS 5500 by enabling our customers to simultaneously integrate crucial intrusion prevention event data with data from other devices provides the visibility and intelligence necessary to defend against today’s complex threats. As part of Top Layer’s dedication to collaborating with leading technology providers to develop and deliver comprehensive security solutions, we are proud to work with Tenable to bring this capability to life for customers,” said Ken Pappas, vice president of marketing and security strategist, Top Layer Networks. “We look forward to delivering outstanding solutions with Tenable to help customers better integrate the various IT security solutions they have implemented with Top Layer’s IPS to realize the benefits of a complete security strategy.”

“Tenable prides itself on providing a truly unified view of data from security devices across an organization, which is why we are excited to include data from Top Layer’s popular IPS device into this mix,” said Ron Gula, chief executive officer and chief technical officer, Tenable Network Security. “We look forward to sharing the deep network security expertise and technical capabilities of Top Layer and Tenable with customers looking to stay ahead of the security threats that lurk around every corner.”

About the Tenable Log Correlation Engine

Tenable’s Log Correlation Engine aggregates, normalizes, correlates and analyzes event log data from the myriad of devices within an organization’s infrastructure. Each LCE can receive system logs, netflow, IDS event, firewall, honeypot and many other types of records. When an LCE receives a log, it normalizes it and then performs highly customizable behavioral profiling and event correlation. Each LCE also enables the Tenable Security Center to perform high speed analysis and reporting for many types of events.
