Synopsis

The remote host is running a web application that is affected by an open redirect vulnerability.

Description

The Sophos Web Protection application running on the remote host is affected by an open redirect vulnerability in the FTP over HTTP page due to improper validation of user-supplied input. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this, by convincing a user to click a specially crafted link, to redirect a user to a malicious website.

Note that the application is reportedly affected by additional vulnerabilities; however, this plugin has not tested for them.

Solution

Upgrade to Sophos Web Protection Appliance version 4.3 or later.
