high Nessus Plugin ID 94353

Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

USN-3114-1 fixed a vulnerability in nginx. A packaging issue prevented nginx from being reinstalled or upgraded to a subsequent release. This update fixes the problem.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Dawid Golunski discovered that the nginx package incorrectly handled log file permissions. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to obtain root privileges.

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.
