Synopsis

The remote name server is affected by a denial of service vulnerability.

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the remote installation of BIND is affected by a denial of service vulnerability. The issue exists due to an error in 'libdns' that fails to properly handle Extension Mechanisms for DNS (EDNS) options.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to BIND version 9.10.0-P2 or later.
