Synopsis

The remote Mandriva Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

Multiple vulnerabilities was found and corrected in Wireshark :

It may be possible to make Wireshark crash by injecting a malformed packet onto the wire or by convincing someone to read a malformed packet trace file (CVE-2012-4048).

It may be possible to make Wireshark consume excessive CPU resources by injecting a malformed packet onto the wire or by convincing someone to read a malformed packet trace file (CVE-2012-4049).

This advisory provides the latest versiona of Wireshark (1.4.14, 1.6.8) which is not vulnerable to these issues.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
