Ubuntu Security Notice (C) 2011-2016 Canonical, Inc. / NASL script (C) 2011-2016 Tenable Network Security, Inc.

Synopsis :

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security-related patch.

Description :

Mathias Svensson discovered that the tex-common package contains an
insecure shell_escape_commands configuration item. If a user or
automated system were tricked into opening a specially crafted TeX
file, a remote attacker could execute arbitrary code with user
privileges.

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding
description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable
has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible
without introducing additional issues.

Solution :

Update the affected tex-common package.
