HP LoadRunner Unspecified Arbitrary Remote Code Execution

critical Nessus Plugin ID 51812

Synopsis

The version of HP LoadRunner installed on the remote host contains a remote code execution vulnerability.

Description

The version of HP LoadRunner installed on the remote host reportedly blindly trusts user-supplied data as an allocation size and uses to copy data from a request packet into a statically allocated heap buffer.

A remote attacker who is able to contact TCP ports 5001 or 5002 on the remote host can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges.

Solution

Either upgrade to HP LoadRunner 10.0 or close ports 5001 and 5002 as described in the vendor's advisory.
