Ubuntu Security Notice (C) 2010-2016 Canonical, Inc. / NASL script (C) 2010-2016 Tenable Network Security, Inc.

Synopsis :

The remote Ubuntu host is missing one or more security-related
patches.

Description :

It was discovered that FreeType did not correctly handle certain
malformed font files. If a user were tricked into using a specially
crafted font file, a remote attacker could cause FreeType to crash or
possibly execute arbitrary code with user privileges.

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding
description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable
has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible
without introducing additional issues.

Solution :

Update the affected freetype2-demos, libfreetype6 and / or
libfreetype6-dev packages.

Risk factor :

High / CVSS Base Score : 9.3
(CVSS2#AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C)
CVSS Temporal Score : 7.3
(CVSS2#E:POC/RL:OF/RC:C)
