Synopsis

The remote host contains an application that is affected by a buffer overflow vulnerability.

Description

The version of Apple iTunes on the remote host is prior to version 9.0.1. It is, therefore, affected by a buffer overflow vulnerability involving the handling of PLS files. By convincing a user to open a specially crafted PSL file, a remote attacker can cause a denial of service or execute arbitrary code with the user's level of privileges.

Solution

Upgrade to Apple iTunes 9.0.1 or later.
